Statement from IOMJ: Independence, Openness, and Equity
Since the very beginning, IOMJ has been supported by donations from our users. Users keep the website up and running by donating small sums.
We are committed to operating independently and do not collaborate with any large commercial publishers, including Elsevier, Springer Nature, Wiley, and Taylor & Francis.
Our choice not to collaborate is rooted in our commitment to academic autonomy and knowledge equity:
Strictly APC-Free (0 Publication Fees): These large publishers often impose high Article Processing Charges (APCs). Through our independent, donation-based model, we guarantee that publishing remains permanently APC-Free, eliminating financial barriers so that researchers from any economic background globally can equally publish and access knowledge.
Maintaining Academic and Editorial Independence: Commercial publishers' decisions can be profit-driven. Our independent operation ensures that all peer-review and publication decisions are based purely on academic quality, free from commercial influence.
Opposing the Privatization of Knowledge: We believe that mathematical research is a common human good. Independent operation ensures the free flow of knowledge and opposes the practice of large publishers who privatize what should be public academic output through high subscription and APC fees.
